School Pictures 2012-2013

Here are my "Beavis and Butthead!"
Tubbs - 3rd grade (left)
Bubba - 5th grade

Tubbs' hair looks like it might be getting a little wave to it. Maybe its my imagination. I still comb their hair in the morning before school and Tubbs has this certain hair style, where he likes it to stick up in the front. It's getting harder to do because his hair doesnt seem to straight.
Bubba on the other hand, has the same chia-pet fluff on his head. (Handed down to him from his father) :) He has had the same hair style since I can remember and Bubba doesn't mind at all. That's my Bubba! :)
Love these boys.

Lately

I haven't updated the blog on what's going on lately with the fam damily. It's nothing too fascinating, as usual, but I figure I would blog about something other than a special occasion/trip.

Let's start with Wiggy....
This girl is a piece of work.
I like to believe it's her dad's genes and not mine.
In fact, while I am on the idea, how do I even know if the girl is mine? She is a complete replica of her father!
I don't remember being this ornery or comical as a child. She is a perfect blending of her two brothers. She looks more like Bubba but has more of Tubbs' personality. She loves to sing and dance. She will make up songs, depending on the situation, and sing them right in your face. Some of them are very angry and reminiscent of Eminem. Heaven help me if she grows up to actually have a good voice and all of our dirty laundry is aired over the airwaves.
We recently went to a wedding reception and she walked up to me during dessert and asked if she could go dance. I thought nothing of it and shooed her away to go dance. When we went to leave the reception we went looking for her and remembered she asked to go dance. The girl was up on the dance floor by the speakers dancing all crazy. I was laughing hysterically! I wished I had the entire performance on video. Luke and Bubba are not dancers AT ALL. Under no circumstance will they do anything that remotely resembles dancing. Tubbs I can usually bribe into a jig or two in the privacy of our own home. Not Wiggy. She will do whatever she pleases, wherever she pleases. It's just a sight to see. She doesn't get embarrassed about much.

Wiggy is enjoying pre-school..finally. She was calling it high school for the first few weeks, but I think she has it down now. I knew she was really liking it the first Friday she asked to go to school as opposed to staying home with me. She had no choice in the matter, but I was glad she liked going to school. I was worried letting her out of her cocoon.
She has made some new friends pretty easily, but there one boy she talks about often. She refers to him as the "mean guy." He kicked her in the back of the legs one day at the drinking fountain and the day before he scratched her leg with his tricycle. Needless to say, her older brothers were ready to meet this kid and pound him. I had to explain to them that it wasn't necessary to jump a 3 year old boy who is smaller than their sister. I can't wait to see these boys in another 10 years when someone is bothering their "little" sister.

Tubby Wubby....
Tubbs very recently earned his green belt in Tae Kwon Do. He really, really, REALLY enjoys the sport. It was his request to join earlier this year and it's refreshing to a kid who is self motivated. He works really hard and he goes to practice at least 4 out of 5 days each week.

Tubbs has a good sense of humor. He "gets" stuff that goes right over his older brother's head. Let's just say Tubbs and his dad are two birds of a feather. :) One night after Luke took the kids to Target he came out of his room in this get-up. He allowed his dad to take a picture, under the condition that it would be deleted. That didn't work out too well on his end.
Tubbs is in a 3rd/4th combo class this year at school. It's a decision that I kind of regret. He isn't doing as well as we assumed he would. I think he kind of feels pressure not to do anything embarrassing since their are older kids in class. He won't raise his hand and ask for help because he doesn't want a 4th grader to make fun of him. We have had a few talks with him when we saw some work come home with less than desirable grades. We had no idea of how he was feeling in the classroom. If we could do it over, we would have asked him to be with Bubba's 3rd grade teacher....who we simply adore. Live and learn I guess. The good thing is Tubbs loves to learn, so it will all be okay I'm sure. My husband just gets me overly cautious and paranoid these days. Tubbs favorite subject in school is English! Finally something I can get on board with... since I was never really in love with Math or Science. There is nothing better though, than your 3rd grader asking you a math problem from their homework and them witnessing first hand their mom's glazed over eyes. Yep...mom is a winner. It always ends with, "Let's ask dad when he gets home."
Tubbs has almost caught up to his brother in size...at least as far as width. Bubba will always be the tall, lean giant in the house, but Tubbs can fit into all of Bubba's shorts. Luke calls him "Thick." :)
Bubba-Lish .....
This boy never ceases to amaze me. He is just Bubba and he is one of a kind. I know a parent can say that about each of their children...but in his case, this is 100% true. The kids requires a lot of sleep. It's been interesting for him since he began wearing headgear a few weeks ago. I honestly don't know how he gets sleep since he is normally a belly sleeper and the head gear doesn't look very sleep friendly. I didn't think he was going to let anyone see him with the head gear...much less let me take a picture for posterity. He always seems to prove me wrong. Bubba is like his dad too....I can never figure out his next move. He's a loose cannon. :)
Bubba signed up to play the clarinet this year in band. It was his second choice instrument, but I told him I used to play clarinet in junior high. I also still owned my clarient, so when I dug it out of my closet, he was all in. His first choice was the trumpet. I heard him practice the clarinet today and Im glad the instrument in pointing south because I would not want to be standing in front of that thing when all that spit came flying out. Holy moly!
Bubba began doing Tae Kwon Do earlier this year too, 2 months after Tubbs signed-up. Bubba has only tested once (to became a white stripe)and even though he has an awesome kick, is content to just stay at the status quo. It costs $30 to test at each belt level, so frankly, we are ok with him doing whatever pace he wants. :)

Bubba made up some "business cards" for selling/trading rocks. I love that he really loves Science...and his rock collection. Maybe it's enhanced by the fact that I am completely inept when it comes to Science....and rocks. :) A friend from work is president of the Geological Society and she brings me all sorts of rocks and minerals for Bubba. When I bring them home he is over the moon....like Christmas morning.

I love these children of mine. All completely different. All teaching me more about myself than anything else. For some reason, Heavenly Father thought that these interesting spirits needed to come to my home. I joke with Luke and ask him what he thinks I did in my pre-mortal life to get the extreme pleasure of mothering three children who are just like their dad. Luke tells me I must have been extra special! :)

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
