My Little Family

Getting three little people to hold still, give real smiles (with their eyes open) and cooperate for a photo is not a small task. Literally...it takes less than a minute.....but they act like you are asking them to give up their first born child.

After 30 shots, these were the most decent. We took these the week before Easter, on our way out the door for church. Wiggy wanted to show off her new dress.

March Happenings

This picture was taken from a friend of mine who teaches primary. This is Wiggy leading some music activities during sharing time at church. She loves to perform and isn't shy about it.

Tubbs participated in track meet at school. He threw the showput, discus and the 100 yard dash. He also participated in team relay that placed second.
His friend's mom took some of the kids to lunch after the track meet.

Wiggy posing with a purse she liked at Nordstrom Rack. Yes...Bakersfield finally got one.

Wiggy stays classy in the Target bathroom.
Tubbs placed first inthe Pinewood Derby at Cub Scouts. Instead of having the fastest car, they had to build a car that could protect a raw egg. AFter about 20 jumps, his competitors were eliminated. All we did was stick the egg inside a jar of peanut butter. Winner!!

 Taking Tubbs to lunch.....
Wiggy modeling her mustache from the gumball machine at Tony's Pizza. (Or is that Grandpa Hogue? We can't tell the difference.)
Yeah...no pictures of Bubba. I swear he was around....doing something. :)

Day with Mama

Luke takes the boys dirt bike riding on Saturday, so we take advantage of the time together. First event of the day was going to see the movie Cinderella at the movies. She of course needed to wear her Cinderella costume. She has had it two years, so I think this is her last hurrah in it! :)
We got our popcorn (with milk duds poured over the top), large Coke Zero...and a salted pretzel. Mmmmmmm.

After the movie I took her home to change and we head to a friend's house for a Perfectly Posh party. We noshed on a few snacks and then headed to Jamba Juice for a beverage.

Last stop of the afternoon was for manicures and pedicures...of course. Does a girl's day get any better than this?! I don't think so. Little Wiggy is the best partner!

Kid-Free Weekend

As a belated Valentine's gift, Luke and I went out of town together to Pasadena. In true Katie-fashion, I mostly just took photos of food. I love my food.
We left Friday at 4pm after Bob and Nancy picked up the kids. We were in Pasadena and checked into the hotel by 6pm.
We ate dinner at "The Counter." We tried this place before in Thousand Oaks and it is fabulous. I got the turkey burger with bacon, onion strings, cheese and BBQ sauce. Amaze-balls. Their Parmesan shoestring fries are one of the best things everrrrrrrr.
We found this napkin tucked away with the other napkins on the table. We thought it was pretty funny. Don't worry...we didn't try the sliders.
After dinner we drove 10 miles east to Angora Hills, to "The Donut Man." I saw this place on a show on Food Network. They are famous for their fruit stuffed donuts. Now they have fresh strawberries stuffed inside a fresh donut.
It was gooooooood. They are open 24 hours a day and apparently they have long lines 24 hours a day!

Saturday we ended up just walking around. We didn't know what to do and the weather was so nice, so we walked around Paseo and Colorado. A few hours after lunch we saw a reflexology shop where you could get an hour massage for $25. Luke wasn't digging the idea when I first suggested it....but a few minutes later he changed his mind.
This is us right after leaving the massage. I fell asleep and Luke was telling how painful it was. He said he kept looking at me, waiting for me to open my eyes. He makes me laugh....a lot.

Saturday evening we couldn't decide what to eat for dinner....so guess where we ended up. :)
Tonight they had fresh "tiger tails." So goooooooood.

After we picked up some more treats we headed back to the hotel. Then we walked next door so Luke could get take-out from California Pizza Kitchen.
Sunday morning we checked out. We both started feeling under the weather over the weekend. Sore throats, congested. We had brunch at El Torito and then headed home. We picked up the kids from Bear Valley Springs and headed home! I am so thankful for these little weekend getaways with Luke.

School Jog-a-Thon 2015

Wiggy got to run in her first jog-a-thon. In 20 minutes she ran 10 laps....much to my surprise. She was a little runner today. (She even let me run one lap with her. I am sure she was mortified.) :)

 Tubbs...
the before.......

Tubbs did 12 laps!
The aftermath....

Tubbs dumped his entire bottle of water over his head during the last few laps. Crazy kid.
Afterwards I took him home to get a new shirt and took him to lunch.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
