Bert Gets Married!

It was three months ago, in a phone conversation, when my mom told me my youngest brother had asked his girlfriend Maranda to get married. I was stunned. Little Bertsie couldn't be old enough to get married. Yeah, he is 25 but he will always be little Bertsie to me. :) He dated Maranda for a while several years ago, but broke up. Bert has dated other girls but had recently gotten back together with Maranda. Apparently they picked up where they left off and both wanted to seal the deal.
The were set to be married on Saturday, May 21st in the Sacramento LDS temple, in Rancho Cordova.
We drove up that Friday afternoon after school/work and we had breakfast dinner with everyone at grandma and grandpa's house.

Most of the cousins were there...doing what they do best after dinner.
Saturday morning didn't start off too well. I seemed to forget EVERYTHING this trip. I don't know what I was thinking when packing! I forgot shoes for dress shoes, hairbrush, curling iron, slip for my dress...and more. It was not my day! I am usually so organized and remember every detail when packing.

My mom scheduled mani/pedi's for everyone at 9am Saturday morning. Thank you Grandpa Baer for that nice treat!
After Wiggy and I were done we ran over to Nordstrom's Rack to pick shoes and a slip. We got back to the house in time to change and head to the temple. It was a 30 minute drive and we were supposed to be there by noon....but that didn't happen. Luckily, we didn't miss anything.
The sealing inside the temple was wonderful and I still couldn't believe that Bert was hitched! His wife Maranda suits him perfectly. They like so many of the same things, It's very funny. I really hope they have a blessed marriage full of love and joy.

After the ceremony we took a million family photos with the photographer. Bert and Maranda went to Disneyland for three days for their honeymoon, so they posed with their Disney hats.

We headed home to change and at 3:30 we all met over at the Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant in Roseville for wedding luncheon. There were about 40-50 people there who were friends or family of the bride and groom. It was a great time visiting with family around the table.

The best man gave his toast....
Wiggy fell asleep at some point during the day, but I couldn't remember if it was on the way home from the lunch or what....
It's hard work being a junior bridesmaid. Haha.
We got home from the restaurant, changed quickly and headed to the church for the reception. They did such a great job of decorating and everything looked so cute.
I had to brighten the photos because the room was fairly dim. The only light came from the lights hanging across the room. It was perfect!
The kids really enjoyed the chocolate fountain that was brought in and managed by a professional. It was quite good I have to say myself. I was a little skeptical because you never know when people will "double-dip." Haha.
The vanilla wedding cake was delicious and the other desserts and fruit were a great idea too.
Family arrived to the reception early to take more photos. Everyone zoned out for a bit while waiting for everyone else to arrive.

We all posed for some photos together after the real photographer was done with group photos. Wiggy really liked the little lit up photo prop in the corner.

We left the reception around 9pm, drove to the house, changed, grabbed bags and loaded up for the drive home. Yeah - we are crazy like that. We got home around 2:30am!
Congratulations Bert and Maranda!

Mother's Day 2016

Mother's Day was wonderful....as usual.
Chruch starts at 9am, so I am the first one up so I can get showered. I asked for a green juice for breakfast...so nothing exciting for me. I think Wiggy was disappointed she couldn't bring me breakfast in bed. Next year I will ask for the works! Church will start at 11am so I will be able to lay in bed and get the Queen treatment!
Luke did snap a few photos of and the kids before we walked out the door for church. Right after we took photos Tubbs looked at me and said he felt like he was going to throw up.
Alrighty then.
He stayed home with Luke and I headed off to church with the other two.

During Sacrament the men/boys in the ward sung two songs. I snapped a photo and thought I was being sneaky by taking video. Little did I know the flash on my phone was on the whole time. So everyone facing me could see me recording.
FAIL!
Luke was texting me during church and poor Tubbs was vomiting. We all thought it might be food poisoning because he was the only one sick. He threw up a few times through the day and laid in our bed all day long.

Luke's parents and brother Jake, came down for Mother's Day lunch/dinner around 2pm. Luke made panko chicken and mashed potatoes. It was delicious! Tubbs came to the table for a few minutes. He was hungry and took a few nibbles of mashed potatoes.
After they left we laid around and did absolutely nothing! I laid in bed next to Tubbs and took a small nap. After I woke up Wiggy came and put some bows in my hair. She also gave me a foot massage, courtesy of the Wiggy-spa! :)

When I finally decided it was time to get up and stop bring lazy Bubba came in too and we snapped a few photos.

Wiggy made me a few things at school and church. Luke and the kids know the way to my heart is through Charlotte Tilbury, so they got me a gift card too! I was swooning!
I am so blessed to be a mother. I am sure Heavenly Father just shakes his head sometimes and wonders what the heck I'm doing, but I am really thankful for this special calling in life. I am also very thankful for the mother and Luke's mother! XOXO

Girls Trip to Disneyland

I had a doctor appt. down in LA early one morning. Luke thought it would be a good idea to take Wiggy with me and go to Disneyland later that day and stay the night. I ended up buying us a three day pass. When I told Wiggy she was coming down with me she was a little skeptical at first but I told her it was going to be a girl's weekend down in LA. She was so excited to go with me. It really did make me feel good.
The night before we left she made her list of everything she wanted to do. It all sounds really good. Manicures and pedicures, Cheesecake Factory, pretzels, go to a movie, get Sprinkles cupcakes and of course SHOPPING. Lots of shopping.
After my doctor appointment at USC I drove to Anaheim. She had her Ipad, so she wasn't paying much attention when we drove into the Disney parking structure. When I told her where we were and what we were doing for the next three days, she was VERY excited. She has been asking when we were going to Disneyland for MONTHS. She told me it was ok to get rid of the list she made. It was very cute.
Since it was close to 11am when we arrived, we decided to head to California Adventure the first day.
Car parked and headed down to the tram!

 Face painted. Check!

Tower of Terror was a hit. I love that this girl will ride ANYTHING!!

We left the park around 8 and eventually got to Cheesecake Factory close to 9pm. Amazingly our food super quick after ordering and we were out the door and headed to hotel around 9:45.

Day 2 ......we were up and to the park by 8:30am.
We stopped by Jamba Juice at Downtown Disney on our way in. We were headed to Disneyland for the last two days. She also had an appointment at the Bippity Boppity Boutique that afternoon.
 We are twinning today!

 Dumbo ride!
Waited in line an hour to see Minnie at her house in Toon Town.
Tea Cups.
I think we rode this 3-4 times.

For lunch Wiggy had some snacks in Tomorrowland. I opted for a lunch/dinner of fried chicken and mashed potatoes. We ended up trying to leave the park at the worst time ever! It was right before a fireworks show was set to begin and there were so many people in the area by the exit, it took foreverrrrrrrr. We eventually made our way out and to the tram.
We had a full day at the park and there was a sleepy girl on the tram back to the Disney parking structure. Rapunzel was exhausted! We got to bed around 11pm.

Day 3...
We have a Magic morning early entrance pass. We had to take advantage of it so I drug myself out of bed at 6am. I was so tired! While I showered I called out to Wiggy and she eventually came and made her way to the shower. We were so close to the park, we decided to walk to the park instead of drive. We go to the park at 7am! Woot-woot.
We headed to the rides that we were unable to ride yesterday. The Matterhorn had no line so that was our first stop. I swear that ride kills by back every time!

Next was some rocket ride in Tomorrowland.
It was like Dumbo, but in rockets. Totally exciting. Haha. But that's what she wanted to ride.
We wanted to hit Frontierland, but they told on Magic Mornings only Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are open at 7am. Bummer! So we headed to Peter Pan. Still waited about 30 minutes, but that was fine. People love their Peter Pan! I bet it's in the top five longest lines.
After the park officially opened we rode Splash Mountain a few times. We always rode in the back, so we didn't really get wet. Thank goodness. Both days we rode in the morning, while it was still cool outside.
We spent most of the morning meeting different characters and getting the autograph book signed. We were both tired and she was tired of waiting in lines. I didn't blame her!

She has been asking for a balloon since we arrived, but I made her wait because we had no place to put the balloon while we rode rides. I got her one right before we left the park. Funny enough, she poked at it on our way home and she popped it. Nine dollar balloon. Ugh.
The walk back to the hotel was fun for the first 10 minutes--but then Rapunzel started to get whiny and crabby. Apparently she isn't big on exercise or walking. :)
We checked out from the hotel around 3pm and then drove to the American at Brand in Burbank for lunch. We got home on Saturday night around 7pm.
It was a wonderful girl's weekend. One that I hope she does remember. If not, I have millions of photos and videos to remind her.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
