Easter 2017

Easter Sunday was the middle of April. I actually prefer it to be this late in the month as opposed to March. The weather is a bit warmer and the kids can get out and enjoy it. This year Luke worked the first two days of Easter break. I also worked the first few days but took  a half day Wednesday so we could leave for the Grand Canyon.

Easter Sunday we went to Stake Conference at 10am and then headed to Broken Yolk to meet Grandma and Grandpa Hogue for Easter brunch. This year's brunch was way better than last year, so maybe this will be our new tradition.
We colored eggs on Satuday night. Each of the kids got 6-7 eggs to dye. Luke and I each dyed one. :)

We dyed Wiggy's hair on Easter eve and put some temp purple dye in it. She loved it. It washed out within a week or so.

Tubbs is 13!

Tubbs' birthday was on a Wednesday this year. Not only that but he had football practice on his birthday which means we didn't get to celebrate until dinner at 8pm.
All good birthdays end up at BJ's I think. Probably because they are a mile from our house. :) This is the first year he didn't celebrate with friends...or have multiple celebrations. Little boy is growing up.
$13 bucks in those magic balloons!

His breakfast request was cinnamon cake and eggs. I stuck a candle in there and I think it burned a little further than planned.

April 2017

In April we had the inside of the house painted. We went from warm tones to cooler tones. It took about four days to do the entire house, but we were happy with it.
The before photo

Another two days at Disneyland. We can't get enough of this place! I came prepared this time with better sun protection for my face. Of course I lost it on the last ride of the night.

Easter break means a quick getaway out of town. This year we chose the Grand Canyon. We left on Wednesday for Las Vegas. Then Thursday morning we headed to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon. That evening we drove an hour south of the Grand Canyon to stay the night. Friday morning we headed home!

Mama cut her hair and dyed it dark again. No more blond....

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
