The last week of school was a blur. I knew it was the last week of school, but it just didn't really resonate...for some reason or another. (Luke claims I have dementia...or Alzheimer's. Whatever.)
So Tuesday morning I am sitting in a meeting at work when I get some texts with photos. What the heck?! I missed Tubbs' awards assembly and he made Principal's List. This was not good. Apparently every other parent knew about it, except Luke and I. i felt really bad...but I am thankful for two friends who took plenty of photos for me. This was Tubbs' first time making Principal's List this school year. I was so disappointed I missed it....this was the first time neither Luke or I was at an awards assembly.
I called the school on Tuesday morning, after I got out of my meeting, to ask when the 6th grade award assembly was. Turns out it is the morning of the last day of school, which seems a little crazy to me. Considering the report cards weren't going home until the last day, how the heck were parents supposed to be notified?!
Not my problem I guess, but I asked the lady in the office to look up Bubba's report card, so I could confirm if I needed to be there. Thankfully the answer was yes...he was making honor roll.
Last day on the same campus until high school.
Goodbye 4th and 6th grade!
Now that Bubba is 12 he can do baptisms in the temple with the youth. Our ward usually has 3-4 of these scheduled a year.
I drove down and ended up with a carload full of Deacons. It was quiet at first, with a few snoozing during the drive to LA. We stopped in Gorman for sodas and fries, turned on some Brian Regan and they were laughing the rest of the drive.
After I dropped off the boys and we were driving home that evening I asked Bubba what he thought and what was his favorite part. Bubba said, "When I walked into the temple my legs felt tingly. It was really cool. I loved it and can't wait to go back."
It was Davin and Bubba's first temple trip. :)
After we left the temple I took the boys down the street to Sprinkles Cupcakes. Bubba and Davin picked out ice cream and Seth and Zander chose a cupcake. Great way to end a special day!
This girl is a Texas tornado and she sure does keep me on my toes. Hard to believe she will be heading to Kindergarten in a few months.
She was super excited for her pre-school graduation....and I am pretty sure it's because she loves getting "dressed up." I was lying down by her on Sunday evening and she kept telling me how excited she was for graduation. Then she asks me, "What should I wear?!"
I adore this girl.
She looks like her daddy's twin, but she is just like her mama. I thought it was so cute the way she was carrying on and then she asked me what I was going to wear. (It's a very important decision that should be made days in advance!) :)
On Monday evening I ended up taking her to Kohl's to try and find a cute dress for her. We lucked out and found something in daddy's favorite color.....yellow. We love yellow.
I took these photos the morning of the graduation, in the backyard. She let me curl her hair for the first time and I think she liked it. I think she came away relatively unscathed. (I think I only burned her once.)
Wiggy says she wants to be a baker like mama when she grows up.
I spent the day with Bubba's 6th grade class. They had their end of year class party at Greystone Park. I can still remember my 6th grade party for Wallace Elementary. It was at the Bowling Alley in Mtn. Mesa and I wore a two piece shorts outfit my mom sewed for me...it was neon yellow and pink. Haha. Bubba was fortunate that his mom didn't make him a matching outfit.
The kids walked to the park as soon as school started and the party started at 9am. They fed the kids donuts when they got there and then for lunch they had hot dogs, chips, fruit, cookies, and cupcakes. The kids played in the water and on the playground until 2pm. It was a LONG day in the sun.
Alex, Bubba and Mitchell at the end of the day.

Today is officially my last Friday off alone with my homegirl. I told her this bit on information last night and she agreed that we needed to do something extra fun today. (Next Friday I am supposed to be helping with Bubba's 6th grade party)
On Fridays we like to get our nails "done," go shopping, eat good food....and more shopping.
This morning we dropped off the boys and headed straight to the Riverwalk. I brought her bike so she could ride while I ran/walked. It's getting HOT so even at 8:30am, its icky outside. After 30 minutes of exercise we went through the McDonald's drive-thru for a beverage and biscuit. We cleaned up at home and headed to the mall. I am trying to find some sundresses for this girl...it's all she wants to wear. I am having a hard time finding anything cute, will fit over her belly without looking too lame, and is cheap. She doesn't take good care of her clothes, so for summer I don't want to spend a lot of money. Thankfully we found a few good sales today. The girl also loves to hit up Sephora so she can try all sorts of lipsticks on. It's always good for a laugh. I can hardly wait until she is actually old enough to wear make-up.
This big girl starts Kindergarten in August. I am going to miss our Fridays alone soooooo much.
Modeling a new swimsuit....
After a bike ride at the park.....
A yummy cheese souffle from Panera.
A frostie from Wendy's.....
Shopping for make-up....
Modeling a few of our other finds from shopping.....
Open House....always a fun time. Love seeing what the kids worked on through the year and the displays. Luke's Open House was the same night and time, but he somehow managed to meet us 30 minutes into it.
One thing was clear after reading all their questionaires and papers...I need to teach my kids how to spell "Science," "friends"....and a few other words. Yikes. Anyways....I am proud of my boys. Thankful we are down to 9 days of school because I am pretty much checked out. I don't want to pack another lunch...or get kids up for school.
Thankful for wonderful teachers at BV though, who take such good care of their students and love what they do.
On to Bubba's class. This boy is really going to be in junior high next year...unless something went terribly wrong this quarter and he isn't telling me something.
That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....
So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
