Beach Trip - Jan 2017

On Monday, January 2nd we headed back down to the beach house in Carpinteria. We left around lunch, stopped for lunch in Santa Clarita and made it to the house by 5pm. This was Tubbs' first time to the house since he didn't go with us in November. He was taking photos on the deck.

Tuesday morning we ate breakfast at the house and then walked down to the beach. Then we headed into Carpinteria for some lunch at a bagel shop.

Then the real party showed up around 2:30! We were so happy to see family and thankful they made the drive down to spend 48 hours with us. Tuesday evening we headed into Carpinteria to an Italian restaurant for dinner. After dinner we watched some movies at the house.

Wednesday morning it was raining so the kids got in the hot tub before lounging around the house. 

Eventually in the afternoon we headed down to the beach and walked around a while in the rain. The kids had a lot of fun. Grandma, Holden and Luke stayed behind where it was dry and warm :)

 Grandpa was thinking about trying to jump onto the log in the ravine and I said, "don't do it Grandpa. This won't end well." haha.

Wednesday evening it was still raining pretty good so we ate close to the house at the Padaro Grill. Then we came back to the house, made some brownies and relaxed. The kids played some more games with Aunt Lindsay and Grandma---then everyone passed out.

Thursday morning we woke up a little earlier than the past few days and packed up our stuff. We said out goodbyes to family and then made our way home in the rain. We traveled together until Bakersfield, which was nice. We are so happy that our family came to spend some time with us at the Beach house. XOXOX

December 2016

December came and went and we are always sad. It's not my favorite day to take down the Christmas decorations and all of the lights. I love putting up lights not only on the tree, but throughout the inside of the house. This year we found some cool strands of small lights that ran on batteries, so they were easily to decorate with. We thought we weren't going to put lights up outside, but Wiggy guilt-tripped dad into putting some up, so a week into the month we headed to Home Depot for some lights. Wiggy was quite proud of herself. 

December started off with my 40th birthday celebration and Luke coming home from that trip with a stomach bug. By the following weekend he was down for the count again with some virus that resembled a cold or hay fever. After that the kids all came down with cold/flu like viruses. It was amazing. :(

 We came home on Saturday, December 3rd from San Francisco and these are the treats that friends delivered while I was gone. They are such a blessing! I was surprised that my kids didn't get into any of it.

We picked out our tree on December 4th.

 The Boy Scouts went to the Condors Hockey game for free and even received free hats that were pretty nice.

On Saturday, December 17th Luke took the boys to see the new Star Wars movie while sick Wiggy took a nap. She woke up coughing and was very warm so I took her to Urgent Care. Thankfully we got right in and there was a great doctor working. They took her temp and it was 104 degrees! I felt like mother of the year. I didn't even take her temp at home before I brought her. Needless to say, we spent three hours under the doctor's care and when we left her fever was down to 100. She received a shot of steroid and antibiotic in her booty, a breathing treatment, she drank an entire bottle of Pedialyte and a dose of Motrin and Tylenol. I just got the EOB in the mail today from the insurance....$1200 for that visit. Thankfully we only paid $20. Anyways - the doctor really was amazing. He thought she might need an IV to get some fluids into her, but she drank the Pedialyte like a champ.  Within a few days I started to get a bad sore throat and now it was mom's turn. By Christmas Eve I was all stuffed up and exhausted. The good thing is we were all off work for the next two weeks. AHHHHH--- love Christmas break!  Luke took the two weeks off too, so we could all lay around and be sick together!

 My grandma Baer came down from Idaho to surprise my cousin Aimee, who came home her mission in Uruguay. My mom took her to a nice spa for nice manicure/pedicure and sent me photos. That was her Christmas gift from us. We didn't get the chance to go to Roseville, so I am glad everyone was sending me photos through the week.

As a Christmas gift  to Luke I had a friend take some photos that Luke could put up in his office at work.

 My last day of work before Christmas break...and I was not feeling well--- so it was a sweatshirt and hat kind of day! I got to drop Wiggy off at school that morning!

 Yeah--who is this girl? The bangs were a last minute decision. The good thing is that hair grows back, right!?! Luke isn't a fan of the bangs so I haven't really worn them down since I had my hair cut. 

 This is Bubba's favorite thing to do when he is home. He posts up on the couch with a blanket and his phone. He is living the life! Haha.

 New Year's Eve was quiet since the house was sick. Luke picked up another bug after Christmas so he spent the last week of the year coughing and sleeping. We picked up some dinner and then came home to put together a puzzle. I did make us some hot cocoa around 11pm.

 We ALMOST finished the puzzle by midnight. Luke worked on most of it and Wiggy helped a little here and there. Around 11:30 the rest of us started helping but we still didn't make it.
