Somehow I thought I all ready posted on this, since I posted on Wiggy's fabulous week as an only child...but I didn't.
Luke's parents took the boys camping again this year in their RV. The boys REALLY look forward to this---especially Bubba. Bubba loves to be outdoors...with no showers or need to clean himself.
Sticks.
He loves to play with sticks...or other weird objects he finds along the way. He would probably make the perfect homeless person one day. Hopefully that's not the case, but I don't think he would be miserable if he was.
Anyways, that Thursday morning Luke and Wiggy drove the boys to Tehachapi to meet up for the drop off. By Saturday morning we were beside ourselves, waiting for them to call. We really missed them. The boys were gone for 6 L-O-N-G days.
We picked them up Wednesday evening back up in Tehachapi. It was so nice to have all three hyenas back together. Wiggy really missed her "bruthas" and I think the boys missed her more than Luke and I. Oh well.
Since the boys were escaping to the mountains, Wiggy and I thought it would be a good idea to go visit our friends in Temecula for the weekend. We left the house the same time as the boys did.
We stopped in Corona for lunch at Jack in the Box! :)
Wiggy had been sleeping the last two hours, so she has those sleepy/crazy eyes.
We had another 30 minutes before we reached our destination. We were happy to see our friends! The girls got along half the time. They couldn't decide if they wanted to be BFF's or mortal enemies.
After dinner we walked around the neighborhood and to the park. We watched the kids run and play, while my friend and I chatted away. I sure wish we lived closer so we could do this more often!
We stayed up way too late with the kids!
Friday morning we decided to head to San Diego. We finally got ourselves together and out the door before lunch time. After an hour drive we made it to the aquarium in La Jolla. The kids had a great time!
About a mile from the aquarium was Sprinkles Cupcakes!
Who can pass that opportunity up!? Not me!
Sarah had never tasted them before....so she was converted quickly!
After cupcakes we drove up the coast to Carlsbad! The drive was very scenic and entertaining......witnessing Sarah's road rage! Ha-Ha! Those California drivers are cray-cray!!
We stopped at the beach for a bit and Wiggy was very motivated to get in the water.... surprisingly. I stayed in my shorts and t-shirt and watched Wiggy a few feet away....trying not to get wet.
After the beach Sarah drove us to this Mexican restaurant that was REALLY good....Las Olas. It was a hit...and I'd love to go back.
After dinner we drove back to Sarah's house, bathed the kids, and put them to bed. We stayed up eating more cupcakes...and talking. I could do this every night!! :)
Saturday morning we both woke up exhausted with a cupcake hangover....and lack of sleep. Wiggy and I decided to hit the road for the 200 mile drive home.
We were sad to say goodbye to our friends, but happy we could visit for 48 hours. We hope our friends come visit us soon!
It's been just over two weeks and the boys are itching to go camping/4-wheelin' again.
Luke, my dad and Luke's parents had a camping/Jeep trip planned for several months. Luke's parents wee going to bring their RV up, which was going to be very helpful. There were several Jeep trails they guys mapped out and they were motivated. However, last week my dad found out some of the trails were closed because of court orders. Crazy environmentalist! :)
They were not very happy, but somehow managed t modify their trip to make it worthwhile.
The morning they were set to leave, Luke's parents needed to cancel because of some medical concerns. Luke spoke to my dad and they decided to postpone the trip...and after an hour of deliberation, my dad called Luke back and they decided to go ahead and go. Luke just needed to go buy a tent and purchase food that didn't require the amenities of the RV to be cooked.
They left the house on Thursday morning with family prayers and some big kisses from Wiggy and mama!
When they pulled up to the house on Saturday evening they were dirty and STINKY! They took a long swim in the pool to clean up and cool off.

This year, the 4th of July seemed quiet and uneventful. We started the morning off with chores, a trip to WalMart and squeezed in some swimming.
It seems every year we are doing something different, and that's ok. It's always nice to be with family on this holiday, but this year we spent the evening with the family of Bubba's best buddy, Chase. He turned 10 today, so we celebrated 4th of July with a birthday and fireworks!
That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....
So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
