Yo Mama!

Mother's Day...
A day I look forward to, and at the same time makes me nervous.
As a mother you never know what to expect from your kids. Mother's Day is no exception.
I awoke before anyone else in the house. Minutes later the boys were up and handed me their handmade cards! I took them out to the living room and I actually got a tad emotional. I whispered in their ears sweet nothings of appreciation and enjoyed the artwork that only their little hearts and hands could produce.

(Ignore the Easter Egg tree....it should be down by 4th of July!)

Bubba made me a coupon book at school for Mother's Day. It had three coupons in it....all of which I told him I was going to cash in yesterday. This made him nervous...and it made me laugh.

My favorite coupon:

I'm not quite sure WHO he was planning on babysitting, but I think I will hang on to this one for another 5-6 years!
He told me he was going to make a coupon that said "No whining for one day" but he didn't think he would be able to control himself.
Funny boy.
(I told him this would be the BEST GIFT EVER!!)

My Mother's Day breakfast: Fit for a king....if you're King Bubba or King Tubbs. Luke informed me that the boys had all sorts of ideas for a big breakfast. They were thinking donuts and Frosted Flakes. Yum right!? He said he could try to talk them into something else. I told him they could do whatever they wanted. They insisted on the donuts!!

What a lucky mom I am. (Good thing I am not diabetic...or on a real diet!):)

Luke snapped a few pictures of me and our THREE bugs looking prim and proper before we stepped out the door.
Off to church!
I always enjoy (immensely) the talks on Mother's Day because they make me feel like Super Mom. Yesterday the tears trickled down my cheek as I listened to these speakers talk about the many "moms" in their lives. I found myself pondering each remark/scripture I heard and wondering if someday my kids would gush about their mom.....or will they be "gushing" about me in one of their weekly therapist sessions 20 years down the road! :) I hope its not the latter.
Our official photographers took turns snapping pictures of mom and dad....

Its hard to keep a straight face when you have a 6 year old snapping pictures like he's the paparazzi.
After church Luke's parents came over for lunch and we enjoyed their company for a few hours. It was nice and relaxing. They brought me apple pie and tulips...my fave.
We had another little surprise this afternoon: Tubbs lost his first tooth! He eagerly anticipated the tooth fairy last night and Bubba even prayed that she would leave him $21. I though that was FUNNY.

I love my kids and my husband...and I am thankful for the special day they gave me. But its like I told Luke last night, "Everyday is Mother's Day with you and the kids."
He quickly realized the sarcasm and gave me that look and chuckle I love so much!
My gift: a swimsuit for our Florida trip

(this is what I will look after I have the tummy tuck/lipo he is gonna get me NEXT year for Mother's Day!) hahaha.
and
Sanuk "Yoga Mat" thongs!

I missed my mom yesterday on Mother's Day, but thankfully she was in good hands this weekend with the rest of my family. Happy Mother's Day to you too mom!

Just catching up on blogs and oooohhhhh, so much to say.
1. Love the bathing suit. I looked at that one online, but didn't think it would flatter my uhh-hummm, "curves".
2. Love the coupon book. Davin's were funny too. I now have a coupon to take Davin to a movie of his choise. Hhhmm.
3. I felt the same way about church. So many sweet messages.
4. After scrolling down... was that massage place on Gosford/White Lane. It sounds fantastic.
5. Luke has a Launcher!! Valuable info. Would he be willing to meet a group of 9 boys at the park for a launching? They may or may not be in Scout uniform. I will have to talk to him.
Okay, I've taken enough space. Let's do lunch.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
