Knott's Berry Farm Christmas Fun

For Christmas this year we used Aunt Thelma's Christmas money to go in on 2014 season passes to Knott's Berry Farm. I can remember it was my Aunt Thelma who took my brother and I for the first time, when we stayed the summer in San Diego MANY years ago. I never went back until Spring Break this year, with the family. We all enjoyed it so much we thought it would be fun to go more often.
The season passes are for Knott's Berry Farm AND Soak City, were less than $100 each and each one included one ticket to use before December 31st. That being said, we thought it would be fun to plan on going the day after Christmas. Our friends, the Coburns had free passes too that needed to be used before the end of the year, so we planned on going together...but didn't tell the kids. :)

Thursday morning we each told the kids we were stopping for gas and McDonald's for breakfast. The Coburn's arrived first, so while Luke pumped gas I took the kids inside to order breakfast. It was funny to see all the kids' faces as they talked and realized we were all going to Knott's Berry Farm. The boys ended up riding with the Coburn's and Addison rode with Wiggy in our car.

Wiggy brought her monkey Rosie...and they slept on the way down.

A stranger won this stuffed animal and told Wiggy she could have it. She LOVED carrying it around all day.

We were the only brave souls who waited over an hour to ride Ghost Rider.

When we came to a stop I was laughing so hard because she was screaming and giggling as we spun around and went up and down. She yelled out, "Awesome!"

Tubbs rode the "Accelerator" with me. Its their fastest ride so I was so excited. Tubbs didn't know if he wanted to ride it or not. We waited for an hour and Tubbs watched carefully. After they strapped us in, Tubbs had tears coming down his cheeks and asked me to say a prayed with him. I felt like mother of the year. The ride goes 0-80 mph in 2.3 seconds.

The ride only lasts like 20 seconds. When we came to a stop and got off, he wasn't sure if he liked it or not....but I bet he goes on it with me again. :)

Both of these boys liked checking out the rock and mineral store in the park. They both found souvenirs they liked.

The ride home was pretty quiet. We can't wait to go back again! Thank you Coburns!

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
