August Activities

Honestly August went by too fast and there wasn't much going on. I guess I can say it was a very lazy August...until school started. I was laid up and Luke was back to work. I was trying to be off my feet and lying down, because that gave my leg and back the most relief. I didn't end up going back to work until the 20th and even then, I wasn't working much because I had another epidural the 25th.
The kids and I got into a good groove. I was sleeping in until 9 and 10am. It was most likely because I was awake until midnight, but for me, getting 8-9 hours of sleep was unheard of. Since I laid in bed a lot, the kids would always come in and hang out in the morning before we got breakfast.

This girl still comes into our bed EVERY night. Every night. I don't know what's going on with her, but at 80 pounds, I am pretty sure there isn't enough room for her. I have put a pillow wedge between us so that she won't accidentally kick my lower back. She likes to sleep sideways. :(
The boys got new double-size bunk beds and dad got them NFL sheets for their fave team.

This is the morning that Bubba slept until 1pm. It's a new record. After 11:30 or so I kept checking on him every 15 minutes. I wish I could sleep like this dude can.
I took the kids to breakfast at 24 Street Cafe one morning. They each had a cinnamon roll and strange enough, none of them could finish it because it was too sweet. I was shocked.
Wiggy went to the movies with dad one night while the boys were at Boy Scouts. She was very excited for private time with daddy. There were a few other nights where daddy took the boys to see movies, so she was a little jealous.

Wiggy was giving daddy pedicures and foot massages. She finally felt sorry for me and rubbed my feet for 30 minutes!!

We went to Long Beach on a Tuesday evening and stayed the night with Leah. We haven't seen each other in ten years I think. This was also her first time meeting the kids. Wednesday morning we drove to San Diego for the Padres game. They lost....but we had pretty good seats 19 rows behind home plate. I was happy because we were in the shade!

I stayed with Leah the night before my epidural. We were up at 5:45 and driving to Marina Del Rey for the procedure.
Tubbs likes to mop. A lot. He keeps my house very clean. I am a lucky mom.
Grandpa Baer and his friend Chuck stopped in Bakersfield for lunch on their way to Yuma, Arizona. I stopped by Costco to see them and visit for an hour. I miss Pops. On their way back through six days later, they stayed the night with us. We were happy to have them visit us, even though it was a quick trip.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
