May 2016 Happenings

I love the month of May!
The end of May brings the end of school! (Hard to believe another school year has come to an end...but I say that every year.) The days are long, but the years are quick. I blinked and in a few months, I will have three kids at three different schools. Hard to believe.
Everyone except Luke caught the stomach flu this month. It started with Tubbs on Mother's Day. Then I woke up Monday night, around midnight and was up until 7am vomiting. Not pretty. Wednesday night Bubba woke me up in the middle of the night saying his tummy hurt. I was optimistic it was just a belly ache from something he ate. A few hours later he comes in to tell he vomited everywhere. Very nice. When he woke up earlier in the night he went and laid in Wiggy's bed since she was in our bed. When he threw up, he threw up all over the wood floors. Thankfully he didn't vomit all over the carpet in his room!
Within a few days I thought we were in the clear...but then the following Monday, Wiggy comes home from school and throws up.
WHAT?!?! We never get these stomach bugs. Not so lucky this time around.
Friday morning breakfast with mom at Panera
They had a breakfast with mom at school, but since Bubba wouldn't be there we decided to do Panera together.
Wiggy had a physical in April, but we kept forgetting to get the blood work done because she needed to be fasting. So we got up early one Saturday morning to knock it out. We did have to wait an hour---which really stinks. Afterwards I took her to Starbucks for a frapuccino.

The day before Mother's Day I took Wiggy to the mall while Luke was at the movies with the boys. I was backing out of my parking space at the same time as another vehicle. I wasn't too happy. Luckily Luke was able to get the dent out without involving insurance.
I was able to leave work for 30 minutes to meet Wiggy and her class over the school garden.
Date night with the groom on a Friday night. His staff had a dinner for him at a teacher's home. They had the taco man come in for dinner and we had Jake's cake for dessert! Deee-lish!

The centerpiece at our dinner table....

Stake temple trip on a Saturday. I drove my kids and the Simpson boys. Luke stayed behind to go to a retirement dinner for someone at work.
This was Tubbs' first time going to the baptistry and he thought the whole experience was pretty cool.
A picture of a few of the boys on our way out the door.
Wiggy waiting in line with me at the Sprinkles inside the Grove in LA. We needed to stop at Cheesecake Factory on our way home from the temple.

Wiggy and daddy planting flours in the backyard.
Daddy surprised wiggy one Thursday at the school kitchen.
She was a happy girl.
Of course she didn't like it when he had to leave.

Straightened my hair again, but this time she trimmed a few inches off. She also put some more "highlights" in but then put a red toner on it. We'll see. I was kind of fond of the blond highlights.
Tubbs and Wiggy had piano recital to end the school year. It was just for the kids and they had pizza/ice cream too.

Memorial Day we had a busy, but fun day. We rode our bikes to the marketplace and watched the Angry Birds movie. After cooling down for a little bit, we drove over to the batting cages on Chester Ave. We haven't been there in two years I think. The boys really liked it, so I need to take them back more often. Wiggy even went into the 30mph cage and hit a few balls!

Goodbye May, goodbye stinky school, goodbye to packing school lunches-- and HELLO to the hot, summer heat!

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
