July 2017

July was a fantastic month. Luke's favorite holiday is the 4th of July, so it's always a great way to start the month. The only downside was the holiday fell on a Tuesday this year. I wish it was always on a Saturday! :)
We finally got Bubba a haircut. Good heavens he was shaggy!
Bubba is finishing up summer school and getting in some football workouts in the afternoons. It's nice keeping him busy through the summer.
Tubbs is also having football practice 4 days a week (in the evenings).

Sawyer is the lone hold out on the shaggy head of hair.
Took all three to hang the new lights obove the dining room table.
Maya slept over and they went night swimming while I made them tie-dye shirts.

We stayed the night with Leah in LB and made another Disneyland run, but this time in our matching shirts!

Can you spot the heart shaped avocado that Luke put on my omelette? That means it is made with love.
Bubba left for EFY at BYU Provo.
He drove up with the Simpson's on Sunday morning and stayed the night with their family. They headed to BYU on Monday before lunch to get checked in. He had a great week and made good friends. We feel really blessed that he was able to go again this year...and with his buddy Ethan.

Tubbs missed his sis (more than he will admit) the week they went camping without him. He likes having someone to antagonize.

While Bubba was at EFY, I took Wiggy and headed to Idaho to see Grandma and Grandpa. Tubbs had to stay behind because eh didn't want to miss football practice. We stayed the night in Roseville on Thursday night and left for Idaho on Friday morning.

We got to play with Aunt Peggy's pug Winston on Friday night.
We took Natalie and Holden with us to Idaho and we were so glad they came.

We went to church with Great Grandma Baer and then stayed for mom and dad's ward. We got plenty of church that day! :)

We got up EARLY Tuesday morning to make the drive home. Natalie rode shotgun and she introduced me to all her music---which is mostly musicals. We had great conversation and I loved having her with me.
We got to Roseville around 1:30pm. We dropped off Natalie and Holden, then headed home. We got home around 7pm. What a LONG day. But it was worth it....we loved being with them.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
