Where do I start?!
Over the past few days when it comes time to brush teeth and shuffle the boys off to bed, they start rioting and throwing fits. Bubba starts a "coo" and tries to get Tubbs to join him....(which he usually does). Sounds normal for some of you I'm sure. But for the 2nd night in a row, when we turn lights off and kneel down to pray with them beside their beds, they have both decided not to pray for mommy. (I guess I should also mention that just 2 minutes prior to prayers Bubba informed me that "I was the meanest mom on the earth!" I just told him thank you)
Last night, when it first occurred, it was kind of funny. Tonight I was a little less humored! At bedtime tonight Sawyer said his prayers first. All sounded fine--- he prayed for everything as usual and I kind of zoned out. When he was done Simon said his prayer and neglected to pray for me...but prayed for everything else. I told him that because he didn't pray for me, he had to start over. Sawyer chimes in and says, "I didn't pray for you either, so I'll start over too!" (Nice!)
Sawyer says another prayer and this time he includes his mother. (Thank you!)
Simon begins his second attempt. He is mumbling, but I make out no distinction of him praying for mama. He says Amen and I tell him he didn't pray for me so he has to start over again. Annoyed he says, "I prayed for the people!" Exasperated I reply, "Well, how is Heavenly Father supposed to know who 'the people' are?!" He flops down again beside his bed for a 3rd time and gives it another shot. Thankfully this time he is kind enough to pray for his mother. (He's lucky!)
I bring them both a drink of water and say "Good night boys" as I walk out of their room. Simon yells out, "Good night mean mommy!" And I say "Good night stinky!"
At Bubba's ripe age of six, I have a feeling this is just the beginning of MANY bedtime prayers that won't mention mean mommy! Ughhhhh....

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....
So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.

Thats cute, I know you probably don't think so right now, but you will when they're older.
Oh good I feel normal now. I love hearing how "mean" other mommies are too. Glad it's normal.
Let's hear it for the Mean Mommies!!!! I tell my children (almost daily) that I am their mother, not their friend. I reaffirm my love for them, but they KNOW that sometimes I have to tell them "no," whether they like it or not. Just wait until the prayer requests that mommy be in a better mood. That's always a little humbling. :)
Well, Sunday night while praying, Simon started to say "Help mommy..." and the stopped. Who knows what he was going to say--- He was smart enough to stop! :)
