Saturday morning Luke ran into Michael's Craft Store and came out like a kid walking out of a candy store. I had no idea what he ran in for, since the kids and I circled the parking lot.
Luke bought a rocket and launch pad. He took 45 minutes to put it together at one of the picnic tables while the rest of the gang played around. Petunia played on a blanket in the shade and everyone took turns entertaining her.
First launch was neat-o and would have been even better if the parachute hadn't separated from the rocket. The top of the rocket was attached to the parachute and it went floating away into the neighborhood. The boys knocked on a few doors to try and find it, but the search was unsuccessful. At least we had one good launch this time around. BUT--the perfect weather and cool breeze made it hard to complain about a thing!
