Bubba is Eleven!

Eleven years old.

Let's see....in a year he will be a Deacon and able to pass the Sacrament at church.
In three years he can go to church dances....which he won't ever step a foot in.
In five years he can officially "date."....which he won't want any part of.... probably...hopefully.
In seven years he will be a legal adult, able to vote and able to serve a full-time mission for our church after he graduates. Yes...I am banking on a high school graduation.

Wow.
It all doesn't seem that far away. I wish (sometimes) I could just tell the boy to stop growing physically...and not to grow up. He is my "Peter Pan" still....so the "growing up" thing isn't as big of a problem as I wish it was. :) Mama still needs to remind him to zip up his pants each morning and he asks me to tie his shoelaces. (He is gonna die when he reads this one day) Hahaha.
Nevertheless, the boy is growing physically. He weighs in at 112 pounds and is 62 inches tall. The last pair of tennis shoes we purchased were a men's 11. The church pants I bought last week were a 16 husky. There is nothing husky about him.... I think. He is just a tall, lanky thing. :)
Bubba is our sweet, sweet boy. At least that is what others tell us. I am not sure his brother would agree with this declaration.:) His 5th grade teacher this year is amazing and she texts me from time time to tell me wonderful, thoughtful things he has done for others at school.  Those messages are nice to pop-up on my phone during a hectic day at work! It really makes me feel good. In February she sent me a text, telling me that the music teacher told her that in his 22 years of teaching, Bubba is one of the kindest kids he has ever met. We are very proud of Bubba and the example he sets when he steps out of our home and we hope he continues down that path.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
