It's an annual Easter weekend tradition...walking or running the FARA run at Yokuts Park. I love catching up with Jenny (Kent) Alfred and her family every year during this event. Can't believe it's been 7 years since I walked the first FARA event with Julie and Jenny out at Hart Park.
This year I convinced Tubbs to do the 5K run with me. I was very excited to have him with me and he did great. I tried to bribe Bubba into running with me too, but he didn't want anything to do with it. He was smart and knew he'd be just fine on the sidelines, snacking on chips.
We had to be to the event before 8:30 so we were up early for a Saturday. Seems like a crime to wake kids up on a Saturday morning! (or is that just me?!) On the way to the race I was giving Tubbs some running tips since I knew he'd never run close to 3 miles before. I was planning to stay with him during the race, but at the same time I was wanting to run at my own pace to get a good workout. (Not that I am Speedy or anything) I loved it when Tubbs responded to my tips/comments with, "Well...what if I am ahead of you?" I looked at Luke and we smiled at each other. I told Tubbs that would be fabulous if he was ahead of me. I love his confidence. We ended up finishing around 34:15 with Tubbs coming in in front of me. He was so happy when it was over!! I know the feeling Tubbs! So proud of you little man.
This year I also got to meet Little Miss Emma, Jenny's baby. She is seven months old and so cute. I love how she would let me hold her and immediately tried finding something on my neck/face she could play with it.
After hanging out for a few hours and chit-chatting we parted ways with the friends and headed to 24th Street Cafe for a late breakfast. Chicken fried chicken and eggs for me.....cinnamon rolls for the kids. I love their cinnamon rolls! :)
