Check out the Hot Pants!

I could have titled this post: "First Swim Meet," but I think I am seriously in love with my boys' Speedo racing shorts.

They are just so darn cute on their little physiques. THANKFULLY they don't have to wear the Speedo "briefs." Those are not so cute---and should actually be illegal.

Tubbs and Landon trying to pose serious for me
The 2024 Olympic Relay Team :)

This is our first season of swim club and the boys are liking it most of the time. Tubbs is NOT a fan of the Speedo. Thankfully he can wear regular swim trunks for practice. Bubba doesn't really care what he wears---which is one of the reasons I love having boys. Tubbs is a little picky when it comes to wearing clothing that is tight around his butt cheeks--- and I think that's OK. (I am not a fan myself!)
Its neat that the boys get to practice and race against their little buddies from church. I can see these boys growing together in the next few years and looking back on these early years with a lot of laughs.
Tubbs swam the Boys 6 & under 25M Backstroke and 25 M Freestyle. Bubba swam the Boys 7 yr old 25 M Freestyle and a 25 M freestyle relay.
I frankly was a bit shocked Tubbs' coach chose to enter him in the backstroke event. He just learned the stroke a few weeks ago and I didn't think he could make it down to the end of the pool on his back. I thought for sure he would be DQ'd.
I laugh and get teary-eyed at the same time when I watch this video of Tubbs swimming the 25M backstroke---Because he is my baby and yet he is such a big boy. I am very proud of him for making it to the other end of the pool without turning over or giving up.
I left the swim meet early to go to my baby shower, so I didn't get to watch the boys in their freestyle events. Luke told me afterwards they worked very hard and did their best--which is what we have been talking to them about non-stop all week. I was bummed but Luke recorded them on the camcorder....which I cannot figure out how to upload to the computer.
Sorry--but I will do better next swim meet. In fact--you will probably get sick of reading about swim meets and looking at pictures of boys in spandex shorts! But I love it!

Do you think the future Olympic swim team would give out autographs? you know, before they get to famous? lol Too cute! I'm with you....speedo briefs should be outlawed! Tanessa did swim last year and I hated when guys would come to practice in those things!

So fun! I think we'll try it next year. I know it's a HUGE time commitment and I wasn't ready this year. Maybe I can have 2 swimmers next year, too. I, too, LOVE the longer speedos for boys these days and always think I'm on a differnt planet when I go to a beach (or someplace public) and see men wearing speedo briefs. YUCK!!!

Sorry to have missed the shower on Saturday. I have a gift still sitting here for you. We were in Southern CA for a wedding. I hope we can get together for lunch sometime soon. I will be in town on Friday the 26th. Let me know if that might work.

The boys did great! They both swam in a relay as well. Both Ethan and landon got DQ'd in one event. Jared was pretty upset so he cued up the video tape of it to fight it. It may be a long swim season. I am loving it though. Glad to have someone to chat with through all of the time as well!

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
