Just Keep Swimming....

I have Dori's little song in my head every time I watch the boys swim.
I really do LOVE watching the boys compete.
It doesn't matter where they place....I love watching them compete! The look on their little faces as they pretend an alligator is chasing them-- (That's what we tell them to imagine when they swim) :)
This is their second season swimming for Lakeside. I really enjoyed last season and this year is no different. Its a little less relaxing this summer since I have Petunia to keep track of, but its worth it. (At least my ankles aren't swollen and I get up out of my chair more easily)!
This is one of the reasons I love it so much:

These four boys crack me up. I am so glad Bubba and Tubbs got to know them last swim season. Watching them interact between events is really entertaining. I also enjoy how well they get along. For a few hours my boys are actually getting long and not picking on each other. Hallelujah!

After early morning warm-ups (7:45 am) the kids chow down on muffins

Between events this is their entertainment. Can you not tell what it is? The beloved Nintendo DSi. Each of them have one, but for some reason they prefer to huddle around one and yell commands at the "driver." Silly boys.

Tubbs and his buddy are the same age so they are almost always in the same event. In this picture they are both swimming the 25M freestyle but are in different heats.I love how his buddy looks to be cheering him on from the seat behind him. Cute.

Tubbs in the 25M Freestyle (At least I have proof he was kicking his lil' legs)

On the sidelines, watching their brothers compete. They are two peas in a pod. I am really glad Bubba has a buddy to swim with.

Bubba in the 25M Backstroke

The boys after swimming the backstroke. Bubba and Ethan compete against each other too, so that makes it more fun to watch. Very neat to see how much the boys have improved in only one swim season. I would love if they all continued to swim and see how far they go.

In this week's meet Bubba and Tubbs were able to compete in four events--which is the max.
Bubba: 50m freestyle, 100M freestyle relay, 25M butterfly and 25M backstroke
Tubbs: 25m freestyle, 100M freestyle relay, 25M butterfly and 25M backstroke

Conveniently, there was a Sonic on the way out of SHafter--so we had to stop for a treat. Sonic Blasts.

Bubba scarfed down his treat...and passed out on the door. Thats what I call exhaustion.

How did they do in their Butterfly? Hopefully you guys didn't have to wait too long before they swam. If I can ever get their previous times sorted I think I am going to print a spreadsheet so we can keep track of times and improvements instead of hunting for the scrap of paper I wrote them on the week before. I'll make extra copies.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
