So...I really really really didn't know what to do this year. I was afraid my boys would poo-poo on my ideas and we'd all have a miserable day. I consulted the wise one in the house and he gave me some great ideas. But I figured out what I really needed.
Sunday night I made some signs and hung them through the house.
When the boys woke up Monday morning they kept asking me what today was. Finally I broke them the good news....and they were excited. I had to keep it a secret because thats the fun oF Zip Zabba Day. You never know when its here or what to expect.
Tubbs found the first envelope of six:
Envelope number one gave them each $10 and said they would be going to Target to pick out a new journal, notebook, erasers, and pencils. For 20 additional kisses they could also get a small pack of "Go-Go's" or Pokeman cards. They were happy to take me up on that deal!
Envelope #2 - Bubba got to open this one......Breakfast at McDonald's
Tubbs opened envelope #3 when we got back in the car.....which told them to look under their seats. Ta-da! New swim trunks!!
They put on their new swim trunks and were ready for the next envelope!
Envelope #4....took us to "The Island" water park in Fresno.
We picked up the Montana girls and we hot the road for the 100 mile drive! We got there right when it opened at 11. Perfect!
I secretly packed up an ice chest that morning so we had lunch packed and plenty of ice water.
We were set for a new adventure. The boys were very anxious because they had never been there before. Envelope #4 also said they could play their Nintendi DSi on the drive up so they were all smiles.
All the girls got their beauty rest on the drive up.
We played and played until we were ready to head to envelope #5!
What would it be??!
We headed to Yogurtland for some frozen yogurt. Great way to cool down.
We originally headed to Tutti Frutti yogurt but when we got there it was closed. So, luckily we were able to find Yogurtland about a mile down the road. Mama almost had a tantrum! :)
After yogurt we left to head home. It was a long drive after soaking up the sun all afternoon.
Tubbs passed out on the drive home. Everyone fell asleep...except mama.
We got back to town around 6pm and dropped of the Montana girls.
We picked up daddy and then the boys opened their last envelope:
Build-a-Bear!!
I even recorded a Zip Zabba Day message to go inside each of their new animals. Awwwwwww. (That was daddy's idea.)
After that treat daddy surprised us and took us to dinner at Red Robin. What a day...what a day!
I really enjoyed my second annual Zip Zabba Day with the kids. Maybe next year Petunia will be able to give us a word to add to the name since the boys named it last year.
