Tubbs' Teeth

Tubbs went to the dentist yesterday to get a filling and sealants on his beavers.
Little did we all know he was going to leave with two less teeth! After an initial inspection, the dentist said he had an abcess above one his front tooth. In May 2006 Tubbs had a little accident that caused some gum damage above his front teeth. One front tooth has all ready been lost but the existing tooth was discolored. Apparently the dentist was concerned that this abcess was a result of this accident and could cause further pain and problems. So, he went ahead and pulled the front tooth and the one right next to it.
We signed the paperwork for consent and the dentist headed back to do the deed. The nurse came out a few minutes later laughing. Apparently when they pulled the first tooth Tubbs said, "Oh Shoot!" Then the dentist was laughing because Tubbs picked out a ring from the treasure box.
Oh Tubbs. He was so brave about it. When he was finished and I went back to check on him, he was smiling and the nurse was showing him how to roll up the gauze.

Before bed Bubba and Tubbs were trying to estimate how much the tooth fairy would leave. Bubba said the tooth fairy pays more when teeth are pulled. Apparently he says the tooth fairy left $20 when he had all four of his canine teeth pulled by the orthodontist in 2009. I think I must have fallen asleep before the back-up tooth fairy left that amount of money, because I don't recall that delivery! My favorite part though was when Luke mumbled, "You never know what the tooth fairy is going to bring...with the economy being so bad."
Oh sweet memories! I will miss these conversations when my kids are grown.
The tooth fairy emptied his wallet and Tubbs got $8!

The SWEET ring Tubbs picked out...and the Smurf figurine he bought at Toys R Us today with his tooth fairy money.

I love your blog almost as much as I love the Christmas letter that you send out. You two are one funny couple! Luke wants to know if your Luke is caught up on movies this summer. Luke's new date night involves our 60 year old neighbor.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
