I honestly can't believe I forgot to post on the big guy's award. I love to embarrass him on occasion (as well as brag) so I need to make sure I have this documented!
Let me start by saying Luke didn't even tell me he received this award. (Shocker)
One of his teachers left me a message on Facebook about doing something for him as a surprise at their staff breakfast. I do remember Luke mentioning in March or April that his boss was nominating him for an award. That was it. He said nothing else....so I forgot. The beginning of May he sends me a text at work, telling me we have a dinner the first part of June. I put it in my calendar but I have no idea what it's for. Fast forward to the message from one of his teachers. Anyways, I am very proud of this guy here. He really does work his tush off and does it all for the kids. He really takes care of and loves his students. He pushes his teachers to do their best and they might not always be happy with him, he does care about his kids getting the best education they can.
The cake they made him for the staff breakfast. They surprised him with a gift card and cake. The kids and I were there too. He thought we were there to drop off muffins for the breakfast.
A week after the staff breakfast there was the awards dinner at Rio Bravo Country Club. His boss and Asst. Superintendent were there and said some nice words about him. It was really nice to see.
So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
Established October 9, 1999, we met in March of 1998 when Katie was "hanging out" with Luke's loser roommate. Although Luke didn't let Katie in on this fact until much later....Katie eventually kicked the loser to the curb the summer of 1998. We started dating later that year in December and were engaged in May 1999 when Katie could no longer resist the Hogue charm! What a whirlwind!
Our first "bug," as born in 2002 and was joined by his partner in crime in 2004. Often referred to as the "Hogue Tag Team" these boys are mischievious, snuggly and always up for a good time! Our third bug shook the tag team up with her pink bows and frills. She was born in August 2009 and has turned our tag team into a trio!
