San Diego Fun - June 2015

We had two weekends in June we traveled to San Diego for Padres games, so I thought I would roll them into one post. These games will be our last until Labor Day weekend, so we enjoyed these getaways to the max.
The weekend of June 12th we faced the Dodgers. We drove down on Friday morning and arrived to the park after eating a late lunch at Casa Guadalajara.

I really liked this guy's shirt, who worked at Hodad's, so I asked for a photo.

Wiggy always spins this Padres charity wheel for $5. In May she spun and it landed on a free shirt, but they didn't have her size. This time she got to pick anything from the prize table, so she got a jersey. We were pretty happy!
On Saturday we headed to the zoo after breakfast. Last time we went was 2010, so it's been five years. Hard to believe how quick time passes.
The weather was GREAT and we all had a good time. After getting back to the hotel we cleaned up and walked a few blocks to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner.

Sunday morning we ate and headed over to the park for another game. Wiggy got her face painted in typical fashion and the kids got their hats autographed by two pitchers...Vincent and Kelly.

The last weekend of June we were very excited to have Grandma and Grandpa Baer join us. They drove down to our house Thursday and we all drove down Friday morning.

I made some cinnamon rolls for us to enjoy before we hit the road.....
Friday afternoon we checked into the Omni Hotel, so we were able to walk right out and into the park. We were able to get into the park early today and watch batting practice down on the field, so we were pretty excited. One of the pitchers (Brandon Maurer) came by afterwards and signed a few things, including my mom's Padres purse. He seemed like a really nice guy who was enjoying what he does for a living. He plays baseball and instead of being all cocky and ignoring the fans, he took 10 minutes to chat with kids and sign anything that was held in front of him.
Friday's game was extra fun because we also got to upgrade our seats for cheap, right before the game. We ended up on the 3rd base side, only 24 rows up from the field. We had a great view alongside 3rd base.

Walking across the sky bridge to the hotel after the Padres WON!

Saturday morning Wiggy was up bright and early because she wanted to go swimming. She woke me up, so we headed down there for an hour. Thankfully the pool was heated, so I agreed to get in for a bit.
After getting ourselves all cleaned up we headed to the USS Midway for the afternoon. My parents went to breakfast at the hotel and then headed over to spend the day with Aunt Thelma, Uncle Dennis and Grandma Strickland. We REALLY enjoyed the day on the Midway and I can't believe we had never made this visit before.
A Maverick impersonator outside the USS Midway. I couldn't stop laughing each time we passed him. It was great.

After 5pm we met up with my parents and drove over to Cheesecake Factory together for dinner. Yes...we enjoy the factory A LOT. I can't get enough of the raspberry lemonade quite honestly.
Sunday morning we had some breakfast at the hotel and then headed to the park. Today Wiggy was a tiger. Haha.
Military Sunday meant today they are saluting the U.S. Navy. It was really cool when the helicopters flew overhead right before the game started.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
