August 2016 Highlight Reel

August has come and gone. It's like I blinked and September has arrived.
The kids are back in school...play time is over. No more staying up way past our bedtime. But thankfully that means the heat will slowly be fading away. There is a silver lining to everything. I do love August, but I am ready to say goodbye to the 100+ heatwaves.

Grandpa Baer spent the first week of August with us! He kept on eye on Tubbs and Wiggy while we were at work. Tubbs ended up hanging out with his buddies Tanner and Landon most of the time. Grandpa took Wiggy on a Dewar's tour downtown, with other friends from church. They had some ice cream afterwards and got to watch how they make their taffy.

Before breakfast they went out to breakfast at Broken Yolk Cafe.
On Thursday we headed to Pasadena so I could get an injection in the facet joint of my lower back. Afterwards we drove to Glendora so i take my dad to the Donut Man. We picked up a few treats and then headed back home.

Friday morning Grandpa had to leave to head back home. We are always sad to see him leave because we love having him here with us.

Other August happenings.....
Bubba getting ready for seminary at 5:45am. He needs a lot of poking and prodding to get him out the door. Most days he rides his bike since the church is only a mile away.
We call this set-up, the Wiggy spa. Wiggy likes to invite one of us to come back for a foot massage and back rub. She invites daddy more than mommy, but when I go back she usually has a bath for me with bubble bath. I will take it! Maybe one day this girl will open up her own spa! :)
Wiggy started soccer practices and she is out only AYSO player this year. Her games are on Friday evenings and her team is the Zebras!
Bubba started football practice the second week of August, a week later than the rest, because he was gone at EFY. He was super excited to get all of his gear a few days after starting.
These boys rode to my work one afternoon to pick up some cash for McDonalds. Rough life on summer break!
The day before school started I took the kids out to breakfast at the Broken Yolk. The lazy days of summer break have come to an end!
Wiggy got a special delivery from her favorite babysitter, Morgan.
It was an early birthday present!
Picking up the kids from school.
Bubba falls asleep in the car while picking up Tubbs and Wiggy.

The king of homework club....doing what he does best.

This girl taking a Sunday nap...is everything. I love Sunday naps!

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
