Camping with Grandma and Grandpa Hogue - 2011

This is the second summer for the boys to go camping with Grandma and Grandpa Hogue. The difference this summer is the boys are going together and Grandma and Grandpa bought a bigger RV. The boys were very excited. Luke and I always think it will be nice and relaxing to send the boys off for a week. But all we do is worry and miss them way more than is necessary. There is really no cell phone reception where they camp so we don't know how they are doing and it makes us really really look forward to seeing the boys at the end of the week.
Monday morning Luke and Petunia met Grandma and Grandpa up in Tehachapi to drop off the boys. I was at work of course and missing the send-off. I am so oppressed!
Grandma and Grandpa sent me pictures of the send-off and I texted them back hugs and kisses as soon as I could.

Tubbs got to ride shotgun the first leg of the trip.

We let Grandma and Grandpa have the Nintendo DSi's for the boys. They haven't been able to play them most of summer so the boys were EXCITED to play them on the long drive to Bishop.

Fishing with Grandpa!

So excited to see their RV pull off the 58 freeway when we met up with them Friday evening in Tehachapi. We knew our precious packages were inside and we couldn't wait to see them! I am not sure who missed them most....Luke and I OR Petunia. She needed her brothers back ASAP! I think she was bored to death of her parents.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for spending the week with the boys and taking such good care of them!

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
