We kicked off Spring Break with a two night "glamping" trip right outside Bishop. Luke's parents were camping at Pleasant Valley in the RV so we drove the truck up, towing the Jeep. We left Friday after Luke got off work and arrived at camp before 9pm.
Luke and Sawyer slept in the back of the truck on foam mats, inside sleeping bags, instead of inside the RV. I think they were plain crazy. Given the number of mosquito bites they have, I think it's safe to say it's a regrettable decision. :)
Wiggy was the first one up Saturday morning. Using the bathroom in the RV was always an experience because you have to turn on the pump to turn on the water.
By 8:30 everyone was awake and freshened up. No one took any showers. (Reason #1, I am not a fan of "camping." Hot showers in the morning are my friend and a necessity!)
We HAD to try out the local (famous) bakery in town that everyone told us about. It didn't disappoint. It was HUGE. So hard to decide what to try.
We settled on a few bakery items and sandwiches.
Expensive, but good.
This little girls loves to have Grandpa's undivided attention....and she loves being in the water.
After we got back from the bakery we went up to higher ground to do some shooting. Luke brought the air guns and the boys' .22 rifles.
Before dinner the kids did some more fishing.
After dinner we made some Smores around the campfire and the kids showered in the RV. We snuggled in an watched the "Sandlot" before bed. It was a long, busy day. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for hosting us for the weekend.
The next morning everyone was up and around before 8am. We ended up leaving camp around 9:30am. We made another stop at the bakery to pick up some bread and donuts for the road.
While we were away, my parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They sent a picture of them with the fruit arrangement we sent them. :)
That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....
So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
