Easter 2014

We had Stake Conference on Easter Sunday, so church started at 10am. This meant that we SHOULD'VE has plenty of time to hunt the eggs that the Easter bunny got up extra early to hide in the back yard, before church.
Sad to say, there wasn't time.
It was also a very warm day....which meant these eggs were not going to be edible, by the time they were found after church.
Oh well. No egg salad sandwiches for us I suppose.
Saturday was Tubbs birthday so topped off the day with dying eggs. Each of the kids had 7 eggs to decorate.

The boys were the first ones awake....then they woke up Wiggy-Witherbottoms to tell her she had treats. Bubba and Wiggy ate all of their Cadbury Creme Eggs BEFORE church. You can imagine what the rest of the afternoon was like.

Grandma and Grandpa Hogue and Aunt Jenny came over for Easter dinner. Luke made some fried chicken, grilled chicken and tri-tip. For dessert we made some strawberry shortcake, Grandpa made some vanilla ice cream and Grandma made a strawberry cake with lemon icing. There was no shortage of food which is one reason I love getting our family together on special days like Easter.

Family pictures before church of course....
I am not sure if I have one picture of Wiggy with her eyes open. Bubba kept squinting so I told the kids to try a trick where they close their eyes until the picture is taken. Wiggy decided to just keep hers closed.

Right after we got home from church at noon, the kids headed to the back yard to hunt eggs. Bubba takes this egg hunting VERY seriously. Wiggy always gets a 30 second head start and Bubba is not a fan.

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
