Big M Is Here!

"Big M" is the nickname my husband and dad gave my mom. I don't know who came up with it or when it started, but they think its funny. (My mom probably doesn't) :)

A few weeks ago I asked my mom to come down and stay with me (and hopefully make me some fried chicken while she's here) because I thought it would be nice to have her here. I enjoy hanging out with my mom---even though its usually under more enjoyable circumstances----like shopping, going to Woman's Conference at BYU...and shopping! My mother has never driven down to visit me before on her own, so she and I were both a little concerned that she might get lost with all the freeway interchanges close to where she lives. Thankfully she made it!

So---the big day for my hip surgery is less than 36 hours away. UGH. Its a day I have been looking forward to and dreading for a while. I want it to be over so I can get back to the gym and looking all ultra slender (like the Victoria's Secret models) ---LOL! BUT... I dread it because --well ---its surgery. My husband can't wait to dig out my fancy walker from last summer (that he wallpapered with Fox Racing stickers), but I think I will stick to crutches. At least until my boys start swinging them around and using them as weapons---or my armpits get sore. Whatever comes first.

Tomorrow we are headed down to LA for my pre-op exam and of course pick up a few Sprinkles cupcakes to hold us over for the next week or two! De-lish! My mom has never heard of them before so I am hoping she enjoys them as much as I do. I imagine us laying around in the days following surgery, nursing our box of cupcakes...and watching the Food Network. Not a bad way to spend my recovery huh!?
:)

I didn't know you were going in for surgery. Good luck. I know how much it isn't fun (I am finally starting to feel back to normal after 2 1/2 months) I am glad that your mom could be there for you. I know I am a long ways away, but if you need anything, you can call or email me...my email is amypoll13@yahoo.com and I will be sure to send you an invite on my blog. Take care and good luck.

Good luck with your surgery. I can't wait for you to get back to the gym so I won't be alone. Seriously, there are so few people there that I actually know now. It's not the same. I still work out, but . . .

Wishing you a quick and easy recovery!

I didn't know you were having surgery either, what is it for? Your mom looks great, and I'm glad she is there for you. I wish you the best and we will keep you in our prayers.

Thanks for all the kind words my friends! Yes--a hip abridement is the technical term! :) But it is arthroscopic so the scars won't be very bad! (Like thats all I am concerned about)
I think its a result of the quad accident last summer. Since I fractured my left side I think I had to overcompensate on my right side! So---here I am.
I appreciate your prayers! Love ya.

Good luck! Seriously, let me know what you need. How long is recovery time. Take some good pictures of bed head, walking thingy, crutches. It will make for good reading. At least you'll be home for a few days so you don't miss anymore NKOTB. I can only do so much!!!

That Stop Wasn't On My Itinerary....

So the Hogue's made it to Florida for our first official family vacation. It was Sawyer's first plane ride....and Simon's first plane ride that he can remember. We were excited....the boys were stoked. We had everything we needed! But it seems that Sawyer packed something with him that wasn't on our checklist: a big case of pneumonia. Yes, the little fella made it almost one whole day in Florida before he started heading downhill fast. Our 2nd day in Orlando we were in the Urgent Care south of Cocoa Beach. (By the way, to see a doctor more quickly, it helps if you vomit all over the waiting room in front of the receptionist. Little tip for ya) After chest x-rays they advised us to head to the ER in Melbourne, where they eventually admitted him to the hospital. So, we had 3 night deluxe accommadations at the Holmes Regional Medical Center. The little whipper snapper was a trooper though! The nurses loved him, thankfully, and made us all feel right at home. We were going to send postcards out with pictures of the hospital since we spent 40% of our trip there...but they didn't have any. Imagine that!Hmmm.....maybe its something they should consider.
